New People's Liberation Party

The New People's Liberation Movement is a political party in Montserrat, led by John Osborne. At the 2001 legislative elections, the party won 51.0% of popular votes and 7 out of 9 seats. John Osborne became Chief Minister. In the May 2006 elections, however, the party's support fell to 29.4% and the party only gained three seats.

The party is the continuation of the People's Liberation Movement, the ruling party under John Osborne from 1978 until 1991. This party was part of the People's Progressive Alliance in 1996. It merged with the Movement of National Reconstruction into the New People's Liberation Movement around 1997.
